Australia native plays second base, collects first hit, RBI, run

PITTSBURGH -- Brad Harman may have grown up in Australia, but even he is familiar with story of Wally Pipp.
Pipp, of course, was the player who missed a game at first base for the Yankees in 1925, watching Lou Gehrig take over and play at first -- for the next 14 years, as Gehrig set the all-time record for consecutive games played with 2,130, until Cal Ripken broke it in 1995.
With Harman making his first Major League start Friday in Pittsburgh while former National League Most Valuable Player Ryan Howard watched, could he end up relegating Howard, a first baseman, into being the next Pipp?
"I don''t know if that''s going to happen right here," Harman said with a laugh. "I''m just going to go in and have some fun and play hard and do what I do."
