(Lakewood, NJ) The Lakewood BlueClaws, the class-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have announced that Christie Pearce of the US Women’s World Cup Soccer Team and Ricardo Clark from the MetroStars will be at FirstEnergy Park Tuesday, June 17th for the team’s first Soccer Night. That evening the BlueClaws face the Hagerstown Suns, a Giants affiliate, in a 7:05 start.
Pearce, a Point Pleasant resident, also plays for the New York Power of the WUSA. Clark was the first round draft-pick of the MetroStars last year, and is a MLS Rookie of the Year candidate. Both players will be throwing out first pitches and signing autographs throughout the game.
Soccer Night will honor teams from around the area, offering discounts and opportunities. Groups of 25 or more will receive team recognition on the video board, an opportunity to participate in in-game promotions and a special patch for each team member. Teams in uniform also will get to participate in a pre-game parade on the field.
As special incentive, the group who purchases the most tickets will be the Future BlueClaws for the game. Tickets are $7 for all soccer groups.
“We’re proud Pearce and Clark can join us for this event at FirstEnergy Park,” said Geoff Brown, the General Manager of the BlueClaws. “Ocean and Monmouth County have great youth soccer programs in addition to youth baseball. This is a great way to highlight that.”
Today, the BlueClaws are off, but start the second half of the season tomorrow night, the first in a four game series with Hagerstown. The BlueClaws finished the first half of the season 22-47. First pitch for all four games is at 6:35 with coverage starting at 6:20. All BlueClaws games home and away can be heard on WOBM AM 1160 and www.sportsjuice.com.
For the four game series June 17th to June 20th Reserve Seat Tickets remain for every game but June 20th, in which General Admission Sod Squad Tickets are available. Tickets can be ordered for all BlueClaws home games by calling (732) 901-7000, option 2. Box-office hours are Monday through Friday 9-to-5 and Saturday 9-to-3.
