Wachovia and the Lakewood BlueClaws, single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are pleased to announce the 2007 "Educational Winners Circle" grant program. The annual program will award two grants. The primary grant to be awarded will be $10,000 and the secondary grant will be $5000.
Now in its seventh year, the "Educational Winners Circle" awards grants to non-profit agencies in Monmouth and Ocean Counties that provide enhanced educational opportunities for underserved youth. Through the first six years the program has contributed over a quarter of a million dollars.
Please download a copy of the application above and return your completed proposal and attachments by June 1, 2007 to: Jim De Angelis, Director of Community Relations, Lakewood BlueClaws, 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood, NJ. 08701. Preliminary proposal review will be conducted by July 1, 2007.
2006 EDUCATIONAL WINNERS CIRCLE Grant Recipients are:
$25,000 Primary Grant Winner Surflight Theatre – Beach Haven
- The "Surflight To-Go" program was formally launched in early 2004 to serve a broader segment of the youth population through the interpretation of live theater to elementary and intermediate school students in central and southern New Jersey.
- "Surflight To-Go" addresses NJ Department of Education core curriculum standards for educators to illustrate and express ideas about social issues as well as teaching traditional academic subject matter.
Secondary Grant Winners
Parents of Autistic Children – Hazlet ($10,000)
- Parents of Autistic Children (POAC) has been providing services since 1999.
- Funds from the Educational Winners Circle will directly support "Project Pipeline" in training teachers and paraprofessionals over a one year period to better serve children with autism.
Berkeley Township School District – Bayville ($10,000)
- Children in Berkley Township will learn through the new and interactive "Video Streaming into the 21 st Century" project allowing teachers to supplement instruction in a manner that will help excel.
- Teachers will have the capability to download science, math, social studies and language arts lessons that will enhance the school districts adopted curriculums.
